Ron has had a distinguished career spanning nearly 40 years in law enforcement.  Starting with 9 years in the Canadian Military Police followed by close to 31 years with the Vancouver Police Department (VPD), retiring as a Detective in 2004.  Notable achievements during his police service include receiving the Chief Constable Award as the Top Student in his Academy Class in 1974, the Deputy Chief Constable Award for Fitness Promotion in 1985, and earning the Province Marksmanship Trophy.  Ron commemorates the 50th Anniversary of his VPD Academy class in April 2024. 

Since retiring, Ron and his wife Maggie became co-founders of Healthy Business Consulting Ltd.

 

Ron's commitment to fitness and health is evident in his impressive record of athletic accomplishments over the last 45+ years.  Highlights include finishing the Hawaii Ironman, participating in 6 marathons with a best time of 3:30, completing two ultramarathons and winning multiple medals in the World Police & Fire Games, including a gold in the 75-79 year 200-meter sprint in 2023.  Ron has also significantly contributed to health promotion within the VPD and the community, through fitness coordination, teaching over 600 fitness classes, advocating for nutritional supplement safety, writing for 'Alive Magazine', and serving on the Board of the Health Action Network Society (HANS), including a term as President.  He also had the opportunity on several occasions, to host the ‘Healthy Living Show’ on Vancouver’s 1040 Radio.

 

Ron remains active, recently winning a gold medal in Slo-pitch at the 55+ BC Senior Games and is currently training for the 2025 WPFG in Birmingham, Alabama, and the upcoming slo-pitch season, demonstrating his enduring dedication to health and fitness.
